Zasl. prof. ddr. Anton Stres,
rektor Katoliškega inštituta in dekan Fakultete za poslovne vede

Welcome on the Faculty of Business Studies!

Dear visitor!

I and my colleagues cordially welcome you at the Catholic Institute and its Faculty of Business Studies.

We are a young higher education institution, but grafted into centuries long tradition of catholic universities and to the very beginnings of the higher education in Slovenia. Today we operate in an environment of more than 300 catholic universities along the world and over 1000 of other catholic higher education institutions.

The catholic higher education is an important worldwide intellectual power and educational force which greatly contributes to the autonomy, freedom, and plurality of university research and pedagogical work. This is exactly the reason why Slovene bishops decided to found the Catholic University in Slovenia and enrich educational and research offer.

Today, this honorable responsibility of creating the catholic university lies with the Ljubljana Archdiocese, the founder of the Catholic Institute.

Should you decide for studies, training, additional learning or any other type of participation in the research and educational activities of the Catholic Institute, you will be rewarded by quality teachers and supervisors, relaxed and respectful interpersonal relations, due attention and the respect for your personal traits and intellectual needs.

Last but not least, you can expect a wide variety of opportunities that our institution and hundreds of its sister institutions all around the world can provide.

Welcome among us!

Anton Stres, Professor Emeritus
Rector of the Catholic institute and Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies

Redni mesečni komentar: Vudu vera v napovedovanje gospodarske rasti

Po ocenah raziskovalcev Banke Slovenije, UMAR-ja in Gospodarske zbornice Slovenije bi naj slovensko gospodarstvo bilo pred obdobjem gospodarske rasti. Značilnost napovedovanja gospodarskih razmerij je vrtenje v neskončni povratni zanki: podatek, napoved, revizija podatka, revizija napovedi, podatek, napoved, revizija podatka, revizija napovedi.

Regular monthly column: Voodoo in the economic growth prediction

Mitja Steinbacher from the Faculty of Business Studies in his latest monthly column for casnik.si raises a question of voodoo economics when it comes to predicting economic growth.

From the content:

According to recent research by the Slovene Central Bank, the Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development and the Slovene Chamber of Commerce Slovene economy awaits a period of economic growth. Typical for predicting economic affairs is the following perpetual loop: data, prediction, revised data, revised prediction, data, prediction, revised data, revised prediction.

Regular monthly column: the actuality of Laudato si

Mitja Steinbacher from the Faculty of Business Studies in his latest monthly column for casnik.si analyses some of the fundamental economic aspects of the encyclical Laudato si.

From the content:

The Pope Francis by his latest encyclical Laudato si urges the world to protect the nature and expresses a need for redistribution of wealth from wealthy to poor. His voice has strong educational powers. However, the question remains how will these powers transform into the arbitrary powers of the government authorities and influence the development of the western civilization.

Advent na Fakulteti za poslovne vede
