Long-term goals

CU must be established with the aim of becoming nation-wide learning institution and center of excellence. Depending on its origin and historical role of Catholic universities in the world KU has a responsibility to become an intellectual center of the highest quality. KU must be visible within the Catholic community.

Development Goals, which will enable the realization of our vision of the future KU are short-term (up to three years), medium term (three to five years) and long term (five years). In terms of content they can be divided into the following sections: research, curriculum, international cooperation, and responsibility for values.

Research

The long term goal is to achieve leading position among comparable research-oriented institutions of comparable size, scope and traditions. KU will have to strive to keep its position of excellence in the fields of theology, philosophy, law and business.

Medium and long term objective of the research activities is to establish a research center for the purpose of upgrading the educational program, students' involvement in the research process, participation in domestic and international research competition (both state and private) and to transfer the acquired knowledge into the economy.

FLBS as an integral part of the future KU needs under long-term objectives efforts to support individuals with research potential, from which it can expect best research results on the long term. They are encouraged to do the writing of their own monographs, participate in scientific conferences, participate in scientific research tenders, published in domestic and foreign journals indexed in the SCI, SSCI or A & HCI, or in publications outside the SCI, SSCI or A & HCI, which are classified in international bibliographic database. The research work must be organized in a way that motivates researchers to apply even the most demanding domestic and international research projects.

FLBS encourages the preparation and participation in applied and fundamental research projects within the domestic and international public and private tenders. Policies and work in the field of research must come from the nature of the educational programs offered by FLBS and the supporting development pillars of the future CU.

Education

Among the pillars for the functioning of the future KU will be its educational activities. Therefore, the faculty has devoted special attention to scientific research, education and training of students by offering high quality extracurricular programs outside the regular educational process.

FLBS must therefore provide education that reflects concern for comprehensive, careful, responsible, and diligent person with a desire for continuous education, which can be achieved by integrating the philosophy, humanities, social sciences, and business content into the curriculum. Education must go in a direction that promotes excellence and builds on the values of the Catholic tradition.

Teaching process must take place smoothly and on relevant way. The content of the curriculum should be reinforced by the latest examples of theory and practice. FLBS has to pay attention for the quality of the study program, upgrading of the existing curriculum and the preparation of new study programs.

In view of the abovementioned objectives FLBS must put efforts to enhance the visibility among those students of Catholic grammar schools and students of other secondary schools and grammar schools who want quality education based on critical thinking. This target group would be able to get attracted by exposing the focus of the education process on small groups and on personal growth.

FLBS has to offer a unique training and must seek to enable internships in enterprises for students in addition to theoretical knowledge to give them the opportunity to acquire experience in solving specific challenges from different areas of business activities. This means that parallel to the programs the FLBS needs to build a career center for students that would offer students a variety of options and help them to the achievement of their career goals.

The long-term goal is to create a high quality learning programs for domestic and foreign students and obtain a sufficient enrollment, which allows the development of the faculty, the fulfillment of the mission and promote its public appearance.

International Cooperation

FLBS must be committed to strengthening international visibility to achieve the important goal of future CU, which is to become an internationally credible and respected partner and provider of research and education, and respected institution in Slovenia.

So, as the first faculty in the context of future CU, it must invest efforts to strengthen ties with research institutes and universities at home and abroad. To this end, it must build and maintain links with foreign experts and try to include them in the teaching process. It must be present in all relevant international mobility programs within the EU and cooperate with related educational institutions.

The medium-term objective of international cooperation is to strengthen the FLBS study programs with international experts, the participation of local staff in international educational process, preparation of international conferences, and participation in international conferences at home and abroad.
