Maja Menard holds a PhD in legal sciences in international law, and is the founding partner in the Fatur Menard Law Firm. After having graduated at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana in 2000, Maja obtained her Masters' degree at the University Paris Ouest in France in 2001, worked for three years as researcher and successfully completed her doctoral studies in public international law.

After her doctoral studies, she worked for more than four years as associate attorney in the international law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LPP in Paris, where she acquired international experience in dispute resolution before arbitral tribunals and international and domestic courts, EU law and international law. Having returner to Slovenia, she worked as attorney and partner in the Ulčar & Partners Law Firm, in particular in the field of dispute resolution, corporate and commercial law, especially mergers & acquisitions, EU law and international law. She also advised clients in connection with competition law issues, particularly State aid matters, and represented clients before the Court of the EU, the European Court of Human Rights, arbitral tribunals and domestic courts.

In 2017, Maja founded her own law firm and merged it with the Fatur Law Firm at the end of 2018, to establish the Fatur Menard Law Firm. She advises domestic and foreign clients in connection with issues of commercial/corporate law, including mergers & acquisitions, transaction financing, establishment of investment funds and corporate governance of companies. She also represents clients in most diverse dispute resolution proceedings, including before the Court of the EU and the European Court of Human Rights. She is also active in arbitration law, advising domestic and foreign clients and representing them in commercial and investment arbitrations, while also acting as arbitrator in proceedings under the auspices of the Ljubljana Arbitration Centre with the Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia and the International Court of Arbitration with the International Chamber of Commerce. She is the Slovenian member of the International Court of Arbitration with the International Chamber of Commerce. She has also authored numerous scientific and expert writings in the fields of arbitration law, EU law and international law. She regularly lectures on issues in the fields of her specialization, at conferences and similar events and as guest lecturer of different institutions.
